The co-owners of Tanbark, Steve Haun and Anne Squires, grew the company from a very small operation to an organization that became one of the area's best full service landscape companies. After many years in this enterprise, Steve's passion and talent for creating outstanding water features has now become the focal point of Tanbark.

Steve brings a varied and extensive background to this endeavor. His qualifications and experience include:

Master of Science degree in ornamental horticulture from Clemson University
Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Warren Wilson College
NCAN Certified Plantsman
ALCA Certified Landscape Technician
Studied Japanese gardening in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan in 1983.

Tanbark was recently honored by the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) at its 32nd Annual Environmental Improvement Awards Program for a Western North Carolina project including a water feature, boulder steps, bridge, deck and surrounding landscaping [see portfolio].

By combining horticultural knowledge and aesthetic sensitivity, Tanbark continues to honor and reflect the incredible natural beauty of the mountains of Western North Carolina.
